Gold and Silver Prices Hit All-Time High on January 12: 10g Gold at ₹1,40,449

Precious metals have stormed to fresh peaks, leaving jewellers and investors watching closely.
The gold silver prices record high came on Monday, January 12, with benchmark rates from the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) reflecting sharp daily gains amid strong momentum.

The surge pushed both metals well beyond previous levels, continuing the robust upward trend seen through the previous year.

Gold Silver Prices Record High: Today’s Closing Rates

According to IBJA, 24-carat gold for 10 grams closed at ₹1,40,449 after a sharp rise of ₹3,327 from Friday’s ₹1,37,122.

Silver also touched an intra-day peak of ₹2,57,283 per kilogram before settling at ₹2,56,776, marking an increase of ₹13,968 from the previous close of ₹2,42,808.

These are pure metal benchmark rates, widely referenced for sovereign bonds and institutional valuations.

Remarkable Gains Through 2025

The year 2025 proved exceptional for bullion, with gold appreciating by ₹57,033—or 75%—over the calendar year. Prices started at ₹76,162 per 10 grams on December 31, 2024, and reached ₹1,33,195 by the end of 2025.

Silver outperformed with a staggering ₹1,44,403 gain, equivalent to 167%. It began the year at ₹86,017 per kg and closed 2025 at ₹2,30,420 per kg.

The early days of 2026 have extended this rally, driven by sustained domestic and global demand factors.

Why Local Rates May Differ

IBJA rates represent the base value of the metal and do not include 3% GST, making charges, or jewellers’ margins. Actual purchase prices at shops across cities will therefore be higher, varying by location and additional costs.

These benchmark figures remain the standard reference for RBI’s sovereign gold bond pricing and bank gold loan assessments.
